About Alex
Alex's passion for photography began at the age of 11, when he first picked up a camera and realised it was the medium through which he could express his creativity. By 17, he landed his first assisting job in Manchester, immersing himself in the world of analogue film and Polaroids.
As commercial photography began to shift towards the digital age, Alex embraced the new technology but found himself yearning for the tactile nature of film. The digital process was fast and efficient, but it lacked the deliberate artistry of analogue photography. Missing the connection to the medium, Alex has returned to the roots of his craft.
Now, with over 25 years of experience and based in his commercial studio in Macclesfield, Alex combines his extensive commercial photography experience with the artistry of traditional analogue processes. Offering bespoke services in black and white film photography and wet plate collodion, Alex captures one-of-a-kind images that bring a sense of timeless beauty to a fast-paced digital world.
In addition to his client work, Alex also runs immersive courses in these alternative photography methods, sharing his expertise and passion for the craft. Whether you’re looking to create exceptional images or explore the art of film photography, Alex provides the skill and guidance to bring your vision to life.
